Christmas in the Summertime

Christmas in the Summertime?!? Maybe it is too early to think about Christmas, but before you know it, it is Christmas again!

Fellow crafts en crochet people will understand: if you want to create something fun for the Christmas period for your home or to give as a gift, then you’ll need to start in time.

So if you want the entire month of December showing off your Christmas decorations and it takes you about 4 to 6 weeks to make all these fun things, then surely you have to start mid-October at least!!

But if you are a designer, you’ll get started before October, with working out ideas and designing. The ideas have to be tested and promoted as well. Christmas in summer-time? Yes!! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

It doesn’t work that way only for the Christmas period , also for Sinterklaas (a Dutch feast for children). Before Sinterklaas celebrates his birthday on December 5, he is already 3 weeks in the  Netherlands. Again, it is useful to start mid-October or even earlier.

If you are designer, your whole year just shifts! With New Year’s you are thinking of Valentine's day. At Valentine's day you start the preparing for Easter. In between you have the beginning of spring. Would you like to make something for the summer period, you have to start right after Easter.  Oh, then we also have to think about fall, Halloween and Winter! What about all the fun designs and ideas that will work all year round?

Of course, you don't have to make something new for all these days and holidays. But sometimes it is just fun to, for example, design something for Halloween, or for Christmas.

You will not hear me complain if, at the end of September, the gingerbread cookies are already in the stores. Or that the chocolate Easter eggs pop up, just after Christmas. They are just in time for my creative mind!!
